Miriam's Crime + Vaudeville

Take a missing will, an impulsive heroine, a crafty lawyer and a sea-going villain, mix well, and you have a thrilling melodrama, as beloved today as it was in the late 1800’s, when it was first performed in Virginia City! This play was performed in Virginia City during the days of stagecoaches and gold nuggets, and it was one of the first three plays performed by the Virginia City Players, 75 years ago!
“An exciting melodrama of stolen wills, mistaken identity and long-lost brothers, “Miriam’s Crime” was first performed in London in 1863. Early settlers in Montana saw it staged in the days when the actors arrived by stagecoach and were paid in gold dust and nuggets thrown on the stage by enthusiastic miners.” The Madisonian, June 23, 1950
In an effort to adapt to the wishes of our audience, for the first time this year, we will be offering a vaudeville show presented on its own, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 4:00pm. A shortened version of this vaudeville show will accompany the melodrama performances on Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays. A Rustle Your Bustle Vaudeville Show will be offered during the week from June 20 – July 20, and an all-new Rustle Your Bustle will be performed during the week for the month of August, so be sure to come back and catch all of the laughter! The Players performed a show they called Rustle Your Bustle in the 1950’s and this image is based on the original artwork from over 70 years ago!
